Job Summary 

As an integral member of the Senior Fire Management Team, the Division Chief, Fire Prevention and Risk Reduction provides strategic leadership and oversight for the City's fire prevention, public education, and risk reduction programs. Reporting to the Deputy Fire Chief, this role is responsible for the administration and delivery of fire prevention services, fire safety education, fire and explosion investigations, and regulatory enforcement activities. The Division Chief leads and develops a team dedicated to enhancing community safety, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and fire codes, and advancing progressive fire prevention and risk reduction initiatives across the City.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Fire Chief, and as member of the Fire Management Team, the Deputy Chief is responsible for providing leadership, management, administration and operational oversight within their assigned portfolio. The Deputy Chief assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, strategic initiatives, training standards, and operational objectives while ensuring the effective delivery of fire protection services in accordance with departmental policies, municipal by-laws, applicable legislation and established service levels.

Due to an upcoming retirement, the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock is seeking a Fire Chief who will, as part of the Senior Management Team, be responsible for the effective and efficient administration and operation of the Fire Department and the Township Emergency Management program. This position will perform the statutory duties of the Fire Chief as defined by the Fire Protection and Prevention Act and other acts of legislation.

The successful individual will demonstrate excellent knowledge of modern firefighting, rescue, and fire prevention practices; NFPA, CSA, ULC, and related standards.  The proven ability to effectively lead, supervise, and support volunteer firefighters is a must.

This is a part time (28 hours per week) position with a salary range of $ 84,025 - $98,847
