NFPA 1850 Key Updates
NFPA 1850 is a single new standard that consolidates NFPA 1851 and NFPA 1852.
This new standard aims to harmonize procedures and provide a comprehensive, standardized approach to all firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) management.
OAFC Chief Fire Officer Peer Support Program
The OAFC in partnership with researchers, including from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), provides access to the PeerOnCall application, train and onboard fire chiefs onto the application and conduct an evaluation to understand the effectiveness of peer support. With the support of the province, the OAFC has received the funding to coordinate the delivery of the Peer Support Program for Ontario’s Fire Chiefs.

Report Release: Firefighter Cancer Research Priorities Workshop
The OCRC has released a report on findings from the Firefighter Cancer Research Priorities Workshop. This workshop was jointly hosted by OCRC and Health Canada in December 2022 and attended by approximately 70 provincial, national, and international stakeholders and scientific collaborators.
