Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources says dozens of forest fires remain out of control, with the most pressing in the province’s northeast now measuring more than 82 square kilometres.

House pets in East Hawkesbury can breathe a bit easier now.  The township’s fire department now owns oxygen masks for cats and dogs rescued from burning buildings.  The three masks were received last week at the St-Eugène fire station.

An overnight hydro station fire has left thousands of Toronto residents without power.

A massive fire in Cornwall caused extensive damage to at least four buildings, including a furniture store. One of the buildings has been destroyed.

FERGUS - A possible explosion and fire caused severe damage to a furniture refinishing factory here on July 25. Wellington Advertiser circulation manager Catharine Goss saw the blaze as she was leaving work just after 5pm.

A person has died and a second person has been injured after an apartment fire in Waterdown early Friday.
