Ottawa paramedics say one person suffered burns in a fire overnight on Meadowbrook Road.
Ottawa Fire Services were called to a townhouse on Meadowbrook Road, north of Cyrville Road, at 12:14 a.m. Thursday for a fire in a bedroom. Smoke was coming from a window on the upper floor.
Firefighters had the fire under control by 12:40 a.m. and said no one was found inside after two full searches of the home.
Paramedic Supt. Nic Guertin told CTV News Ottawa one man was taken to the hospital in serious condition with burns.
Two fires overnight
Ottawa Fire Services responded to a second fire early Thursday.
A caller to 9-1-1 reported smoke and flames coming from a window in a mixed residential and commercial building on Merivale Road, south of Carling Avenue, at 3:52 a.m., according to a news release.
Firefighters found the blaze on the second floor of the building, and had the fire under control by 4:24 a.m.
