Oakville Fire hosts training symposium to upskill and empower women and allies in the fire service

Town of Oakville

The Oakville Fire Department, in partnership with Fire Service Women Ontario, proudly hosted the Fire Service Women Ontario’s Annual Training Symposium, the largest in 15 years, from October 23 to 25.

During the event, over 200 attendees participated in hands-on training alongside classroom sessions tailored to empower and upskill women and allies in the fire service. It also provided networking opportunities, bringing together firefighters, fire prevention officers, dispatchers, training officers, and fire service professionals from across Canada and the United States.

Hosting this year’s symposium demonstrates the OFD’s commitment to excellence through diversity, and the Town’s commitment to building a community where everyone feels they belong. This event highlights the strength of OFD’s inclusive leadership in public safety and reinforces the importance of championing equity and opportunity for all.
