Ottawa firefighters extinguished a grass fire in the North Gower area Sunday afternoon.
A 9-1-1 caller reported the fire at around 4:34 p.m.
Approximately one and a half to two acres of grass was ablaze along Third Line Road near Roger Stevens Drive.
“This call was in an area of the City of Ottawa with no hydrants, so Firefighters used tanker trucks to shuttle in water from a nearby water source,” Ottawa Fire Services said in a news release.
Firefighters helped protect nearby areas that were at risk of exposure from the flames.
The fire was under control at 5:21 p.m.
It has been a drier than normal summer in Ottawa. Thursday saw 34.6 millimetres of rain and an open-air fire ban in the city was lifted, but fire officials across eastern Ontario continued to urge caution.
The cause of Sunday’s grass fire has not yet been confirmed.
