Veteran volunteer firefighter Zoli Rakonjac has been named West Lincoln’s new deputy fire chief.

Rakonjac became a volunteer firefighter in 2010 with West Lincoln Fire and Emergency Services.

He has moved up to training officer lieutenant, mechanical officer lieutenant, captain and has served as acting deputy fire chief on a number of occasions.

A career electrician with more than 25 years of experience in the steel industry, Rakonjac is trained up to the National Fire Protection Association standards as a firefighter.

He fills the vacancy created when deputy fire chief Tim Hofsink was promoted to fire chief in April, replacing Dennis Fisher, who retired on April 25 after 32 years.
