No, Milton’s Fire Department is not calling you for donations

Milton Fire & Rescue Services is alerting the community about a scam involving fraudulent calls requesting donations on behalf of the department.

These calls are not authorized by Milton Fire & Rescue or the Town of Milton.

Residents should be aware that Milton Fire & Rescue does not solicit donations by phone, email, or door-to-door. Any official fundraising efforts will be communicated through the Town’s or Fire Department’s verified channels.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and do not share any personal or financial information. Suspected fraud should be reported to the Halton Regional Police Service at 905-825-4777 or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online.

“It’s disturbing that a scam would target our fire service to exploit Milton’s community spirit,” says Gord Fowler, Deputy Chief of the Milton Fire Department. “Let’s stay vigilant so we protect ourselves and our neighbours.”

Stay informed and help spread the word to keep Milton safe from fraud.
