Accidental fire significantly damages Kitchener home

An early morning fire has caused significant damage to multiple properties in Kitchener on Sunday.

First responders were called to a semi-detached home on Mooregate Crescent near Hazelglen Drive around 1:20 a.m.

Kitchener Fire confirmed to CTV News that a fire had impacted 126, 128 and 132 Mooregate Crescent, with most of the damage seen near the back of 128 Mooregate Crescent during Sunday afternoon.

Neighbours in the area told CTV News the fire had lasted a couple of hours before crews were able to extinguish it.

The impacted homes as well as neighbouring homes were evacuated. Multiple people were displaced but Kitchener Fire could not specify how many.

The estimated cost of damages was around $600,000.

Firefighters were on scene overnight, investigating. The fire was deemed accidental.
