Residents displaced after apartment fire near downtown Barrie

Several residents of Barrie were displaced after an early morning fire at an apartment building near the downtown.

It happened around 6 a.m. on Friday at 96 Ross Street, where firefighters found the electrical room ablaze, resulting in damage to the building.

“The utilities have been isolated until repairs can take place,” said Barrie’s Dept. Fire Chief Eric MacFadden to CTV News.

The affected residents are receiving assistance and a temporary place to stay.

Crews remain on scene Friday afternoon assisting in cleanup and an investigation.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
