Ottawa Fire Services responded to a fire in the 100 block of Elgin Street Saturday morning.
Shortly after 10 a.m., firefighters were called to the scene and declared a “working fire” in a commercial high rise 10:35 a.m.
Firefighters say they extinguished the fire before it could spread, and at 11:53 a.m., the fire was deemed to be under control.
Ottawa paramedics say they were at the scene providing assistance but did not treat any patients.
After firefighters confirmed the air quality to be safe, residents reentered the building.
