Thick black smoke could be seen all over the south end of the city Monday evening.
Orillia firefighters are attempting to douse a blaze in a homeless encampment behind the Orillia Recreation Centre.
Ramara firefighters have been called in to help and ATVs are being used to get at the fire in the brush area behind the West Street South facility.
As of 5:45 p.m., emergency officials were still on the scene.
