Toronto Star

A large blaze in North York killed a cat as it engulfed a residential garage and burned portions of two adjacent homes Thursday afternoon.

No other injuries were reported. Toronto firefighters have since tamed the blaze, police said in a social media update.

The detached garage of the home, near Gleneagle Crescent and Kingslake Road, was heavily damaged. The vehicle in it was smouldering and windowless.

Toronto fire’s Dan Vieira confirmed a pet cat died in the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known, he said.
