Ottawa firefighters responded to three fires across the city Friday night and early Saturday morning.
The first occurred in low-rise apartment building on Beech Street, at around 10:20 p.m. Flames were reported from a second-floor unit.
Ottawa Fire Services says in a news release that the fire was under control by 10:36 p.m. and was prevented from spreading beyond where it started.
Ottawa paramedics say one person, a man in his 30s, was transported to hospital in stable condition and two other people were treated at the scene and released.
Ottawa Fire Services says several dogs were also treated with oxygen at the scene.
At 10:48 p.m., 9-1-1 calls reported a fire at a commercial building at the corner of Osgoode Street and Henderson Avenue that contains a restaurant, a barber shop, and a laundromat, with apartments on the second floor. The fire was contained to the first floor and prevented from spreading. It was declared under control at 11:05 p.m., according to a news release.
The third fire happened just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday, in a townhome on Briarfield Crescent.
Several residents evacuated and were sheltered in an OC Transpo bus while crews dealt with the flames that had fully engulfed the back of the house. It took approximately 90 minutes to get the fire under control.
Ottawa Fire Services says victim services have been dispatched to aid affected residents.
The causes of each of the fires are under investigation. Paramedics reported no patients in the fires on Osgoode Street and Briarfield Crescent.
