2 people rescued after restaurant fire on the Danforth overnight

Toronto Fire says two people were rescued from the roof of a burning restaurant on the Danforth early Sunday morning.

In an email to CP24, fire officials say they were called to the scene just east of Pape Avenue at around 3:25 a.m. for reports of a restaurant fire.

When they arrived. crews say they found the commercial unit fully engulfed in flames.

Two people were discovered on the roof and safely rescued. Paramedics assessed both individuals, who were not taken to hospital.

The building contained commercial space on the ground floor and two residential units above. Officials from Enbridge, Toronto Hyrdo and police were also on scene.

Toronto Fire investigators are working to determine the cause and circumstances of the incident.
