Windsor Fire and Rescue Services offering safety program for residential building owners

High-rise and mid-rise building owners and managers are invited to take part in a fire safety program, offered by Windsor Fire and Rescue Services.

The program will help owners and managers understand and meet their responsibilities as outlined in the Ontario Fire code, ensuring fire and life safety in their buildings.

Upcoming sessions will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held at The Safety Village, located at 7911 Forest Glade Drive, Windsor.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Fire separations and closures
  • Standpipes and sprinkler systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Fire safety plans
  • Fire department and firefighter access
  • Interior finishes
  • Exiting
  • Elevator use
  • Stairwells
  • Emergency lighting
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Emergency procedures
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
  • How to prepare for an inspection
  • Fire safety for residents
