If you’d like to help out Goulais Fire & Rescue Volunteers, mark your calendar for their upcoming pancake breakfast.
On May 3, the community is invited out to the Goulais fire hall for a morning of pancakes, bacon, sausage, and live music to raise money for the volunteer fire department.
Organized by Superior North Plumbing, Superior North Electrical, and Batchawana Maple Products, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“We really saw the need for them to have additional funding, for them to keep serving us in our community,” said Katie Wakely, CAO with Superior North Electrical.
“If it's a nice day, people from Searchmont, town or Batchewana can take a drive out and support a small community.”
Breakfast will cost $5 for children and $10 for adults, with all proceeds going to the fire department.
Now in its third year, Wakely said close to $7,000 has been raised through the first two events, which helped to buy new helmets and other protective gear for the community’s volunteer firefighters.
“It always goes back into protecting the volunteers,” she said.
