Trailer fire causes $250K in damage

CTV News

Fire crews were forced out the door early Saturday morning to tend to a fire at a mobile auto collision business just outside Orillia that caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.

According to Oro-Medonte’s fire chief, crews received a call at around 5:30 a.m. about a trailer fire on Line 15 near Old Barrie Road. Severn’s fire chief told CTV news that they received a call at around 6:30 a.m. for a mutual aid response.

A tanker from Severn’s fire department, police and paramedics reportedly assisted Oro-Medonte’s fire crews in their response.

Fire officials say the lone occupant who discovered the fire and made the 911 call was uninjured. No other injuries were reported.

It reportedly took nearly an hour-and-a-half to extinguish the flames as they were contained to the trailer and a second structure. Severn’s fire chief confirmed that their tanker left the scene at around 7:30 a.m.

The incident was deemed accidental and unsuspicious by fire officials.
