Toronto Services announces New Deputy Fire Chief of Administrative and Mechanical Services

I am pleased to announce, following an extensive search and recruitment process, that Division Chief Therese Chen is the successful applicant for the position of Deputy Chief, Administrative and Mechanical Services.

Therese holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Economics Specialist) from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). She brings over 18 years of progressive experience in financial management, business administration, and procurement within the City of Toronto, including the past 11 years with Toronto Fire Services. Her expertise spans financial planning, procurement operations, payroll and complement management, as well as inventory control and asset management.

I would like to acknowledge and thank Abi Thomas, General Manager, City of Toronto Fleet Services, Althea Hutchinson, Executive Director, City of Toronto Financial Planning and Darla Tannahill, Special Advisor to the Fire Chief and Chief of Staff, Toronto Fire Services, for their assistance and expertise as members of the recruitment panel.

Therese will commence her role as Deputy Fire Chief effective April 15, 2026.
