The damage estimate was low, but a suspected arson has raised significant concerns.

A charred gas metre could be seen at the back of a commercial property on the northeast corner of Highbury Avenue North and Hamilton Road.

Fencing near the meter was also damaged by fire.

Emergency responders were called to the property around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Homes along Coventry Avenue that back onto the commercial property had to be evacuated.

Enbridge crews were called in to shut off the gas supply and assess the damage.

London police have determined the fire was suspicious and are asking anyone with information which may help in the investigation to contact them.

London Fire officials estimated the damage cost at about $3,500.
