Suspicious fire in Guelph under investigation

The Guelph Police Service is investigating a suspicious early morning fire.

Emergency services were called to the end of James Street East at 4:40 a.m. Monday.

Police said garbage and cardboard had been piled on top of a wooden pallet, which was then set on fire.

The fire department was able to quickly douse the flames.

During a search of the area, police found two abandoned encampments, but did not find any people.
