The Guelph Police Service is investigating a suspicious early morning fire.
Emergency services were called to the end of James Street East at 4:40 a.m. Monday.
Police said garbage and cardboard had been piled on top of a wooden pallet, which was then set on fire.
The fire department was able to quickly douse the flames.
During a search of the area, police found two abandoned encampments, but did not find any people.
