Roofers managed to get heavy flames under control in Thornton, fire officials say.
On Tuesday morning, smoke was seen coming from the roof of a two-storey residence on Barrie Street.
Essa Fire Department’s Dept. Fire Chief Gary McNamara told CTV News that workers were completing repairs on the back of the roof using a finishing torch, and the materials caught on fire.
The roofers put out the blaze before crews arrived, who then checked other areas of the residence, including the attic, to see if the fire had extended, but it was all clear.
The Essa Fire Department says one worker had mild burns on their hand, while another worker turned down treatment from paramedics.
The cost of damages is estimated to be under $5,000.
