Ottawa firefighters came to the rescue of a man and a dog who fell through ice on the Rideau River near Prince of Wales Drive and Strandherd Drive on Saturday.
According to a statement from Ottawa Fire Services, crews responded to reports of a dog falling through the ice at 1:18 p.m. and arrived to find that a dog and a bystander had both gone through.
The Ottawa Fire Services Ice Rescue Team rescued both the man and the dog by 1:29 p.m.
Paramedics say they assessed the individual who went through the ice, a man in his fifties, but he did not require transport to the hospital.
