Firefighters from across northern Simcoe County are celebrating a big win, on and off the ice.
Several firefighting services played in the third-annual Ishkode Cup hockey tournament fundraiser this week, helping to support front-line workers and first responders.
The tournament was initially slated to take place in early April but was delayed due to the ice storm.
Several of the participants in the tournament worked tirelessly to help the community during that time, with services from Orillia, Ramara, Oro-Medonte, Tay, Severn and Rama First Nation all taking part.
This year’s event also supported local foodbanks and Orillia’s Salvation Army.
The tournament has raised nearly $10,000 since its inception in 2022.
