Late-night fire leaves Ramara Twp. home a total loss, damage estimated at $450K

CTV News

Flames tore through a two-storey home in Ramara Township, wrangling in a massive response effort that brought together 32 firefighters.

On Monday night, crews arrived to find heavy flames in an older home located along Concession Road 9 at Sideroad 15.

Officials say two people were inside at the time but were able to safely self-evacuate before conditions worsened. No injuries were reported.

Battling a blaze without fire hydrants presents unique challenges, but firefighters told CTV News they implemented a coordinated shuttle operation for water tankers to keep crews supplied.

A fourth tanker from Rama was called in to assist in the rural area, bolstering what officials described as an “accredited superior tanker shuttle service.”

Ramara Fire noted that the extra water supply allowed firefighters to aggressively attack the blaze and prevent further spreading.

While the exact cause remains under investigation, officials say early findings lead to a wood-burning appliance inside the home.

Damage is estimated at $450,000, with the residence deemed a complete loss.
