Firefighters made quick work of a blaze that started in the kitchen of a ground-floor apartment in Beamsville Sunday night.
Shortly after 7 p.m., Lincoln Fire Rescue was called to 4450 Ontario St., a mixed commercial and residential building containing an automotive shop with apartments on the second floor and on the ground floor in the back.
Deputy Chief Bill Blake said someone reported seeing flames and smoke coming from the rear of the building and called 911.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, containing it to the kitchen.
There was, however, extensive smoke damage throughout the complex.
There were no injuries among firefighters or the public, Blake said.
More than 30 firefighters on seven fire trucks responded to the call. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
