A fire investigation is underway in west Galt following a Wednesday evening house fire at a multi-residential unit.

Deputy fire chief Brad Churchill said via email Cambridge Fire Department responded to a house fire on Bismark Drive at approximately 8 p.m.

“Upon arrival, crews were met with visible flames from the roof and initiated an aggressive fire attack,” Churchill said. “Firefighters quickly gained control of the fire and successfully prevented it from spreading to an adjacent unit, limiting further damage.”

Resources from five Cambridge fire stations were committed to the scene at the peak of the incident, he said. The fire department was assisted by police, paramedics and utility partners.

All occupants of the home were accounted for and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Churchill said a fire investigator is attending to determine the cause, origin and circumstances of the fire.
