Essa Road reopens after early-morning fire at Barrie business

CTV News

Barrie police closed Essa Road between Burton Avenue and Innisfil Street following a structure fire early Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m. Deputy Fire Chief Eric McFadden confirmed to CTV News that the fire broke out at a business on Essa Road. Thankfully, it was closed at the time of the fire.

At the height of the blaze, six fire trucks were on scene as crews worked to knock down the flames and prevent them from spreading. The chief says firefighters spent part of the morning extinguishing hot spots.

Officials say no injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The roads have since reopened.
