According to a Facebook post from the Town of Erin, Ted Michael has been selected as the town's new fire chief and director of emergency services, effective June 30.
Michael has worked for the township's fire department since 2003 and currently serves as the township's chief fire prevention officer, managing a team of 60 volunteer firefighters.
The release notes that Michael worked as the division chief fire prevention officer in the Town of Milton, leading the fire prevention division before coming to Erin.
"With more than three decades of expertise in fire and emergency services, Chief Michael has demonstrated outstanding leadership in fire services," said the release, congratulating Michael on the career milestone.
Michael replaces interim fire chief and director of fire and emergency services, Scott Bates, who stepped in for former chief Jim Sawkins after he departed last July.
Sawkins was Erin’s fire chief for six years and acted as the town’s interim CAO from August 2023 to March 2024.
