An early morning fire has left a Third Line home with extensive damage.

Speaking with SooToday, neighbours said the 166 Third Line E house caught fire at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, with firefighters attending the scene throughout the course of the day.

While the home is still standing as of Sunday morning, it appears to have suffered catastrophic damage. Much of the building’s roof collapsed in the blaze and visible parts of the interior are charred throughout.

A garage towards the back of the property also sustained significant damage, with a vehicle visibly melted in the driveway next to the house.

A neighbouring home’s siding partially melted in the fire, as well.

Parts of the street were closed to traffic until late Saturday afternoon, neighbours said, as crews worked to extinguish the fire.

Neighbours told SooToday that a family of three lived in the home and that everyone at home Saturday morning was able to make it out of the house.

SooToday has reached out to the fire department for more information.
