Driveway car fire gets quick response

CTV News

A fiery scene on a new residential street in Barrie’s south end concerned several neighbours.

Deputy Fire Chief Justin Gilbert said he received a few calls from people on Durham Avenue around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

“(They were calling) for a Mazda on fire in a driveway,” said Gilbert.

He said two firetrucks responded to the scene, along with Barrie Police Services.

The fire didn’t spread to the home, and there were no injuries, he said.

However, damage is estimated at $50,000 to $100,000.
