City of Brampton strengthens firefighter safety and emergency response with $230,230 provincial investment

City of Brampton

The City of Brampton is strengthening firefighter health and safety and enhancing emergency response with a $230,230 investment from the Government of Ontario through the Fire Protection Grant. Brampton North MPP Hon. Graham McGregor joined Mayor Patrick Brown and members of Brampton City Council today to highlight this investment supporting Brampton firefighters and community safety.

The funding will help Brampton Fire and Emergency Services expand cancer prevention measures while responding to emerging risks.

Through this investment, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services will purchase two self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) washer units and four bunker gear washers to strengthen firefighter cancer prevention initiatives and support thorough cleaning of protective equipment after incidents.

About the Fire Protection Grant

The Fire Protection Grant supports municipal fire services across Ontario with projects focused on firefighter safety, improved emergency response and modernized fire service infrastructure. This year, the grant will support all 380 municipal fire services across the province, helping approximately 33,000 firefighters through investments in cancer prevention initiatives, lithium-ion battery incident response equipment and minor infrastructure upgrades.
