CTV News

Three children were taken to the hospital following a crash involving a school bus and a dump truck on Highway 11 in Orillia.

It happened Thursday morning on the northbound off‑ramp to Forestview Road around 7:30 a.m.

Police say an unmarked OPP cruiser with its emergency lights on was merging onto Highway 11 northbound from Forestview Road when a collision involving a dump truck and a school bus occurred.

Oro-Medonte Fire Department staff say the driver of the dump truck was extricated and taken to the hospital.

The bus was being operated by the Simcoe County District School Board and was servicing Twin Lakes at the time of the crash.

The Highway 11 northbound Forestview Road off-ramp was temporarily closed for investigation and has since reopened.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has since invoked its mandate.
