Welland Fire and Emergency Services is making it easier to invite firefighters to community events or tour one of its three fire halls.
A post in the city’s news brief section of its website said the fire service recently launched a new online tool that streamlines the request process for residents, schools and community groups, and helps the department plan participation in local events.
“From classrooms learning about fire safety to neighbourhood gatherings that build connection, these experiences play a valuable role in fire safety education and community spirit,” said the news brief.
It said station tours give residents of all ages the opportunity to learn about fire prevention and see firsthand how firefighters prepare and respond to emergencies. Community events offer opportunities for outreach and engagement, it added.
