Heavy tow will be called in after a transport truck slid off Highway 401 early Thursday morning.

London fire crews responded to the eastbound lanes just before Pond Mills Road around 4 a.m.

According to London fire, crews had to use a rope to lower a firefighter down to help the truck driver who can’t get up the 30m steep ditch due to heavy snow conditions.

The driver was being assessed by paramedics and the truck will be removed when weather conditions improve.
