A Saturday afternoon house fire in a new Cambridge subdivision has caused $800,000 worth of damage.

First responders were called out to Pointer Street, near Maple Grove Road and Speedsville Road, around 1 p.m.

A statement from the Waterloo Regional Police Service says the home was fully engulfed in flames, but no one was at home at the time.

There were no injuries.

Police and the Cambridge Fire Department investigated the cause of the fire, in consultation with the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal, and determined the cause was accidental and not suspicious.

Police provided the damage estimate.

There’s no word how long the house will be uninhabitable.
