A dog and their grateful owner are praising some firefighters from Brant County.
Members of County of Brant Station 6 were called to a property in Onondaga on Jan. 18 after a dog had fallen through ice on the Grand River.
Firefighters quickly put their water rescue skills to the test and pulled the pup to safety.
Photos showed the dog using its front paws to hold itself out of the frigid waters while a ladder was stretched across the fragile ice surface.
According to a Count of Brant Fire social media post on Friday, the dog is doing well.
“The public is encouraged to use extreme caution around all local waterways at this time of year, and to closely supervise children and pets,” County of Brant Fire said in an emailed statement to CTV News on Monday afternoon.
