After just over two years in the deputy chief role at Clarington Fire, Bradley Lamport has been promoted to the top job in Clarington.

“Clarington Council is pleased to congratulate Brad as he steps into the role of Fire Chief. His proven leadership will help ensure our growing community continues to receive outstanding fire protection and emergency response services,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.

Lamport, who takes over March 30, joined Clarington Emergency and Fire Services as Deputy Chief in February 2024 after 18 years serving with the Markham Fire while progressing through several leadership positions.

Two of his three sons are also following in Dad’s footsteps as firefighters in Richmond Hill and Markham.

“I am deeply honoured and genuinely excited to step into the role of Fire Chief for the Municipality of Clarington. Clarington Emergency and Fire Services has a proud legacy of outstanding service, and I look forward to working alongside the dedicated personnel of this department,” said Lamport, who lives on a small farm in Kawartha Lakes. “Together, as our community continues to grow, I am eager to learn, collaborate, and ensure we deliver exceptional service while embracing the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

The municipality acknowledged Mariano Perini for his leadership as Interim Fire Chief since the retirement of David Speed in the fall. “While carrying dual responsibilities, Mariano provided steady and effective leadership in support of both public works and fire services, ensuring continuity of operations and organizational stability during the transition period.”
