Town of Oakville appoints Ryan Coburn as Deputy Fire Chief of Operations

Seasoned fire services professional, Ryan Coburn, has been appointed Deputy Fire Chief of Operations for the Oakville Fire Department (OFD) effective October 6, 2025.  

With over 27 years in the fire service, Mr. Coburn brings with him extensive leadership experience, recently serving as the Assistant Deputy Chief of the Hamilton Fire Department (HFD). Here, he played a key role in the city’s cyber-attack response and helped implement their FirstDue records management system. He has also previously held Chief officer roles with Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and served as the vice president of the Mississauga Firefighters Association L1212. 

Mr. Coburn’s experience, education, and knowledge will assist OFD in implementing the Fire Master Plan and complement the team’s focus on making continuous improvements and striving for organizational excellence. His experience in technical rescue will ensure OFD personnel meet Ontario firefighter certification standards and deadlines. Mr. Coburn has demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives with the Hamilton and Mississauga Fire Services and commits to the same with OFD. 

Fire and rescue services in Oakville are delivered by more than 250 full-time personnel. The Oakville Fire department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure the safety of Oakville residents and visitors. The Oakville Fire department operates from nine station locations as well as the Oakville Training Campus for Emergency Excellence.
