A review by a national organization shows Ajax Fire and Emergency Services is continuing to support and improve the safety of the community and its residents.
The 2025 Fire Underwriters Survey noted strides in the services’ community safety and prevention.
Fire Underwriters Survey is a national organization that provides data about public fire protection for fire insurance statistical and underwriting evaluation.
Their latest review found Ajax Fire is keeping up with growth in the town and improving in certain areas.
The department received an upgrade to the Public Fire Protection Classification while maintaining many of its grading levels compared to the 2015 survey.
The Public Fire Protection Classification is a numerical grading system that goes from 1 to 10. It is used by commercial insurers. Ajax’s Hydrant Protected Area Public Fire Protection Classification rose from a four in 2015 to a three in 2025.
Part of the reason is due to the expansion of firefighter staffing, apparatus, strong in service and inspection enforcement conditions coupled with fire safety initiatives.
“The Ajax Fire Master Plan laid out a course for our service and by keeping on this path, we’ve made tangible improvements to level of service and safety in our community,” said Ajax Fire Chief Aaron Burridge. “I’m pleased that the 2025 Fire Underwriters Survey has shown the impacts of this hard work and investment.”
“Ajax Council has made significant investment in firefighting personnel, equipment, and training in recent years,” said Mayor Shaun Collier. “I am proud to see that these investments are making real improvements to the safety and wellbeing of the residents of Ajax. I offer my sincere thanks to the dedicated firefighters serving our town.”
