Officials say a late-night fire spread to as many as three homes in Toronto’s downtown core on Monday night, resulting in one roof collapsing and a firefighter needing medical treatment.
Emergency services were called to the Bathurst Street and Richmond Street West area just after 10:30 p.m.
The homes between 143 and 147 Bathurst Street were all affected. In an update from Toronto Fire on Tuesday morning, a spokesperson said that one of the residences’ roofs had collapsed but that the flames had been knocked down and contained.
Occupants were accounted for, and no injuries were reported to anyone living in the three homes. One Toronto firefighter was taken to a hospital with a minor injury.
Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene to monitor hotspots.
There are multiple road closures in the area, and the TTC says there are detours via Bathurst Street, Queen Street West, Spadina Avenue and Charlotte Street.
