Oakvillenews.org

Oakville GO saw a frightening display yesterday, July 14, as several vehicles in one of its parking lots engulfed in flames.

Yesterday afternoon saw multiple fire trucks with Oakville Fire respond at the GO transit station after six cars caught fire in the north parking lot.

All six vehicles have become inoperable due to the fire and the subsequent knock down by the Oakville Fire Department.

Damages to the vehicles can be seen in the shared video below, taken after the fire was extinguished.

According to the Oakville Fire Department, the blaze started 4:00 p.m. at the GO Station parking lot.

When fire crews originally arrived onto the scene, three cars were on fire and the flames spread to adjacent parked vehicles in the parking lot effecting six cars.

The fire was caused by a transformer that exploded and eventually started the fire.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze, and no trains were cancelled due to the fire. Service remains on schedule today at Oakville GO.
