On Saturday, Sept. 6, around 12:30 p.m., the Timmins Fire Department responded to a capsized boat on Meadow Lake, which is nearly nine kilometres down Pine Street South.
"Due to the difficulty locating the boat from the Meadow Lake shoreline, crews launched the fire department’s rescue boat from Wealthy Lakes and travelled approximately six minutes to reach the boaters in distress," said the fire department in a news release.
The victims were showing early signs of hypothermia when they were assessed by the Cochrane District Paramedic Service. All were released with no injuries reported.
The fire department is reminding all residents of the dangers of being on the water. They say to always wear a properly fitted personal flotation device (PFD) and carry an approved emergency kit.
