A plume of dark smoke could be seen in the north end of Barrie late Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to Ferris Lane after reports of a vehicle catching flames.
Barrie’s Deputy Fire Chief Eric MacFadden said the car had experienced issues while travelling along the highway.
When the driver pulled off the road, a fire broke out under the hood of their SUV.
Firefighters with Barrie Fire and Barrie police responded to the scene at 11 Ferris Lane, where the blaze was quickly brought under control.
No injuries were reported and the cause is undetermined.
