There were no injuries Monday as fire crews responded to a fire in Elgin that left one resident displaced.
Firefighters responded to a call of around 3:50 p.m. Monday to a structure fire on Route 895, according to Elgin Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kent Steeves.
"The structure was fully engulfed when we got there," Steeves told Brunswick News by phone Monday. "We had the biggest part of the fire knocked down, but then it was get in and search it, make sure there was nothing in there, nobody in there, and finish putting it out."
Steeves said there was nobody inside and no injuries as a result of the blaze, with one resident displaced by the fire. He said the cause hadn't been determined as of yet.
Crews responded from Elgin as well as from Petitcodiac, Salisbury, Havelock and Penobsquis, Steeves said. The first crews were sent home about two hours in, following which was "mop-up," he said.
"Our crews work so well together as a mutual aid group," Steeves said. "Everything is in sync, we work so well together, I can't thank my neighbours enough."
