Damage is estimated at $500,000 after a barn fire in Lambton County.
Crews were called to the scene at 3421 Petrolia Line around 8:37 p.m. Tuesday where a metal shed was on fire and spread to a barn.
No animals were in the barn or on the property at the time of the incident, but tractors and wagons were burned.
The family that owns the property is renting it out, and the tenant was not home at there at the time of the incident — a neighbouring property owner alerted fire department.
The current owners have owned property since 1983.
Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department (PNEFD) Chief Rick Cousins told CTV News there was a scary moment when a firefighter showed signs of heat exhaustion.
“PNEFD support operations and response team and EMS staff that was on standby at our scene tended to our member. EMS transported the firefighter to the hospital, [they were] evaluated thoroughly, then released just hours later with a clean bill of health.”
The cause of the fire has been listed as undetermined.
