A garage fire that occurred yesterday caused approximately $400,000 worth of damage, the Burlington Fire Department shared in a release.
At 3:28 p.m., the fire department responded to the call at the corner of Edgar Avenue and Thomas Alton Boulevard. The blaze required 11 emergency response vehicles to respond, with a total of 32 emergency personnel on the scene. The fire was extinguished quickly, and there were not injuries to residents or first responders.
The fire department said they suspect smoking caused the fire, and warn that cigarettes can smoulder between cushions for hours before fully igniting.

The Burlington Fire Department said nobody was injured during a Thursday afternoon garage fire near the intersection of Dundas and Walkers.
Just after 4 p.m., emergency services were notified of the blaze at the corner of Edgar Avenue and Thomas Alton Boulevard. At least five fire trucks responded to the fire, along with several police cars. The fire was extinguished quickly, but smoke damage could be seen up to the second story of the house.
A Burlington Transit bus was brought in temporarily to keep evacuated residents warm.
There is no known cause of the fire yet.
