At least two homes have been damaged in a fire in Richmond.
Emergency crews responded to a call for a fire in a single-family home on Pelham Crescent, near Perth Street, just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Ottawa Fire Services Public Information Officer Nick DeFazio said the fire started in a home on Pelham Crescent and spread to a second home.
Firefighters declared a second alarm, prompting the service to send more resources to the scene.
“It became a priority to protect the other houses in the area. All of those were protected by firefighters and the fire was contained to the two houses that were on fire when they arrived,” DeFazio told CTV News Ottawa.
Ottawa paramedics say crews treated an adult male on site with minor smoke inhalation. He was taken to hospital by ambulance in stable condition.
A photo provided by the Ottawa Fire Services showed one house was badly damaged, while the side of a second home was damaged by the fire.
Smoke was seen rising above the neighbourhood in Richmond.
There is no word on the cause of the fire.
