Niagara police are investigating after firefighters in Niagara Falls put out a fire at a home Wednesday evening and found a deceased man inside.
Niagara Regional Police were called to the house fire at 5416 Elm St. at 6 p.m. after Niagara Falls Fire Department extinguished the fire and found the body.
The NRP criminal investigative branch took over the investigation, along with Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal.
Police confirmed the victim is an adult male and was the lone occupant of the home.
His next of kin have been notified, police said, adding they are not releasing any information about him out of respect for the family’s privacy.
