Gift from the Heart was nominated by Tracy Coyne, a member of the Ontario Volunteer Firefighters Association and CLAC Local 920, employed by the City of Greater Sudbury.
Gift from the Heart is a non-profit Canadian charity connecting oral health care professionals to vulnerable Canadians who encounter barriers accessing essential oral health care.
“I’m a mobile dental hygienist in Sudbury,” Coyne said in a release. “Many seniors residing in their homes or in long-term care would benefit from education and supplies to assist them in achieving optimal health. Brushing, denture-cleaning, supplies, toothbrushes, mouth rinse and comfort aids all help with their oral health.
“As a volunteer firefighter, the health of the body and mouth are very much linked. I’m grateful to see this donation to the Gift from the Heart program helping the seniors in my community.”
